Patent and trade secret trial lawyer Katherine (Katie) Prescott has been protecting and defending clients in cases involving a wide array of technologies for more than two decades.
Katie excels in devising creative and winning litigation strategies to protect clients’ innovative products and services and in defending them against infringement and trade secret misappropriation allegations. She also helps clients develop and implement long-term plans to minimize risk and optimize their market positions. She litigates cases involving software, network, internet technologies, medical devices, consumer products, and a variety of other technologies.
Katie has extensive experience leading all aspects of litigation, including pre-suit investigation, fact and expert discovery, claim construction, summary judgment hearings, mediation, trial, design around, injunction contingency planning, and appeals in federal circuit courts nationwide.
After starting her career at Fish & Richardson, she worked in-house at a top 10 Fortune 500 consumer electronics company, where she led strategy for patent and consumer class action litigations, U.S. International Trade Commission investigations, and post-grant proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Katie has a background in civil and environmental engineering and earth and planetary science. She volunteers with Save the Redwoods League, which works to protect and restore California redwood forests. She is a council member and serves on the organization’s Science and Restoration Committee.
