Scientists and Engineers

Scientists and Engineers Image

If you stand out, you'll fit in.

Fish has the #1 patent practice in the country and consistently ranks at the top of the pack in patent litigation by IP Law & Business, and our technology specialists and litigation technology analysts are an integral part of these thriving practices.

If you are a scientist or engineer who is interested in contributing your passion and knowledge of your vocation to the practice of law, we encourage you to consider a career with us.

Our non-attorney legal staff, comprised of technology specialists and litigation technology analysts, work closely with our attorneys and clients to perform critical academic and patent research on highly technical intellectual property matters.

We have one of the longest-standing technology specialist programs around, with many of the firm’s principals having begun their careers as technology specialists.

Technology specialists engage in all activities related to patent prosecution and in technology-related activities in litigation. Prosecution activities involve preparation of patent applications and subsequent interaction with the patent office, which can include significant interaction with both inventors and examiners at the patent office and provides exposure to many different clients and a variety of cutting-edge technologies.

Litigation Technology Analysts work closely with attorneys and clients to perform research and analysis functions in highly technical intellectual property matters. Litigation Technology Analysts will work at the direction of or under the supervision of attorneys employed by the firm. Essential duties include researching and analyzing infringement, validity, and claim construction issues, assisting in preparation of technology tutorials, and working with inventors, technical experts and technical witnesses.

Employees in all of these roles work hand-in-hand with our attorneys by providing important expertise and analysis in support of both prosecution and litigation, and benefit from hands-on, in-house training, such as our own Patent Boot Camp.

Unmatched client support comes together in our patent and litigation practices through the sharing of knowledge and the team atmosphere among our attorneys and scientists and engineers.
