JP Elberfeld, Pharm.D., applies his deep technical expertise to litigate for clients in the life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors.
A former pharmacist, JP has a comprehensive scientific literacy that enables him to quickly grasp his clients’ complex pharmaceutical inventions and communicate fluently with inventors and experts. While summering at Fish & Richardson, he completed a secondment in the IP litigation department of a leading pharmaceutical innovator.
JP’s legal experience includes drafting motions and memoranda on patent litigation issues such as the marking statute, willfulness, and Hatch-Waxman standing. He also has experience with appeals. In law school, JP participated in UC Irvine’s Appellate Litigation Clinic, where he briefed, argued, and ultimately procured a reversal for his client before the Ninth Circuit.
When he’s not at work, JP enjoys running, playing tennis, and cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles. He also holds the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon completed while controlling a tennis ball, which he achieved in a time of 3:37:27 during his last semester of law school.
