Gary Gerfen, Ph.D., focuses his practice on patent prosecution support in the chemical and life sciences.

Prior to joining the firm, Gary had a 23-year career as a tenure track faculty member at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His federally funded research program emphasized the use of advanced magnetic resonance techniques in the study of enzymes relevant to human health, as well as the construction of unique instrumentation and the development of new biophysical protocols.

While at Albert Einstein, he served on the college’s Committee on Patents and Intellectual Property, where he reviewed disclosures on topics encompassing medical devices, drug targets, computer software, biochemical research protocols, and fluorescent assays, among others, for evidence of obviousness and prior art. Gary has published 67 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals describing his work.
