F. Clayton (Clay) Faries focuses his practice on both domestic and international patent prosecution with an emphasis in the chemical industry including chemical and petrochemical processes.
Clay has broad expertise in chemicals, polyolefin and other polymers, oil and gas, and petroleum processing. Technology areas of his practice also include computer hardware and software, process controls, medical devices, power supply, and mechanical systems.
Prior to joining the firm, Clay was an intern in the Texas Court of Appeals for the First District. Prior to attending law school, he was a process engineer in the petrochemical industry for 12 years. His technical focus included fluid flow, heat transfer, and pressure relief. His product focus included polyefin, including managing the day-to-day operation of polyolefin production. He also supported the startup of a polypropylene production line for a licensee in China.
