Dr. Bretschi earned her doctorate at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) / University of Heidelberg in the Department of Medical Physics in Radiology. She worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in the field of biomedical imaging methods and therapeutic approaches to characterize and treat cancer. Her studies included imaging methods, molecular genetics, cancer biology and contrast agents.
