Background

Jason Stegall is a Patent Agent in the Dallas office of Fish & Richardson.  His practice includes Patent Drafting and Patent Prosecution.  He provides prosecution and portfolio strategy to clients working to adjust their Patent Strategy with their business needs.

Jason assists clients in developing worldwide patent portfolios with an eye toward crafting portfolios that effectively exclude competitors and can be monetized.  He brings a unique, technical perspective to his patent development strategies.  His practice spans the lifecycle of intellectual property, particularly helping clients understand and navigate the intellectual property landscape as they bring new products to market.

Jason has significant industrial and tinkering experience.  He served both as an offshore facility engineer and as a rotating equipment engineer for BP.  These roles allowed him to be out in the field and gain first-hand knowledge of equipment in the Oil & Gas industry.  How many patent agents do you know that have installed a gas turbine?  Jason also has CAD drafting experience (both professional and hobby related).  In his spare time, Jason is an audiophile and a gear-head.  He has experience designing and building his own HiFi amplifiers.  He also has experience developing his own fuel maps for his turbo-charged roadster.  Jason was also experimenting with autonomous drones several years before it was cool.  He loves to tinker, and loves working with people that enjoy the same.

Although Jason represents some large companies, he also enjoys working with mid-market and start-up companies.  He has helped develop patent portfolios and strategies that allow young companies to intelligently protect their developing intellectual property and better position themselves for investment and acquisition.
