Background

Feigenbaum builds intellectual property for early- and mid-stage ventures in most technologies (except life sciences). Focusing on strategy first, he coaches each client on the direction, scope, and timing of an IP vision that will serve the venture well and be consistent with the persistent product development and financial pressures that it faces. Once the course has been set, Feigenbaum leads a cooperative effort to implement the plan promptly and thoroughly. This means hard work and creativity on both sides. To infuse enthusiasm and trust into the effort, David is unusually responsive to calls and emails. Building on years of experience, he fosters imaginative thinking through stimulating, efficient, plain-English interaction to produce useful outcomes.

Feigenbaum’s life-long commitment to board-level philanthropic work in arts and history organizations has included Historic New England, From the Top, Boston Landmarks Orchestra, Terezin Music Foundation, Boston History Collaborative, Catalogue for Philanthropy, and Design Management Institute.

What’s my passion? Creative strategic planning of intellectual property. Yours. And getting patents that fit the plan and make a difference in the marketplace. One solid patent at a time. Or more. For lone inventors and early- and mid-stage ventures. Informed by decades of experience.

I’m a quick study on new technologies (but not hard-core life sciences). I relish working with smart people who will make a commitment to the process. And I deliver memorable client service matched with plain English interaction.

As one observer put it, unsolicited: “I have worked with quite a few US Attorneys in this field [software patents] over the years. The very best is David Feigenbaum, one of the Principals at Fish & Richardson, Boston. Besides being one of the brightest people I have met, able easily to assimilate any new technology, and an excellent Patent Attorney, he has a delightful wry sense of humour. As Fish & Richardson is now the largest Patent firm in the world, there is strength in depth, as well.”
