Fish & Richardson Adds German Litigator Armin Kühne, Strengthening European Patent Litigation Platform

Fish & Richardson welcomes experienced patent litigator Armin Kühne as a principal in its Munich office. Kühne represents clients in high-stakes patent infringement disputes, standard essential patent (SEP) licensing, and trade secret disputes before the Unified Patent Court (UPC) and German courts.

Kühne helps innovative companies develop coordinated litigation and intellectual property strategies across jurisdictions, with experience spanning telecommunications, electronics, automotive technology, pharmaceuticals, and network security. Over the course of his career, he has played leading roles in more than 40 trials as well as major SEP proceedings, multimillion-euro licensing disputes, and other complex cross-border matters.

"Armin's arrival represents an important milestone in the continued growth of our European litigation capabilities," said Corrin Drakulich, global leader of litigation. "His experience before the UPC and German courts strengthens our ability to serve clients facing increasingly global patent disputes and enhances our capacity to deliver coordinated litigation strategies across jurisdictions.”

Prior to joining Fish, Kühne served as an associated partner at a Munich-based law firm, where he represented multinational companies in IP matters involving sophisticated technologies across a range of industries.

"Clients increasingly need counsel who can help them navigate complex patent challenges on both sides of the Atlantic, and Fish has built an exceptional platform for protecting and enforcing IP globally,” said Kühne. “I'm excited for the opportunity to grow Fish’s European litigation practice and to work alongside my colleagues to help clients navigate complex disputes before the UPC, German courts, and beyond."

Kühne received his Dr. jur. from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and completed his legal education at the University of Mannheim. He is admitted as a German Attorney-at-Law (Rechtsanwalt) in Munich.
