Fish & Richardson Names Robert Oakes Delaware Office Managing Principal
Fish & Richardson has named Principal Robert "Bob" Oakes office managing principal of its Delaware office, effective October 1, 2026. A leading venue for intellectual property litigation, Delaware is a strategically important market for Fish and its clients.
"Bob has deep roots at Fish and he has long been a valued leader within our Delaware office and across the firm," said John Adkisson, president and CEO of Fish. "I am confident he will build on the office's strong history and lead our Delaware office with the same sound judgment and commitment he brings to his practice."
"I am honored to step into the role of office managing principal," said Oakes. "Our office is home to an exceptional team of attorneys, patent agents, and technology specialists and has a strong culture rooted in collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth. Building on that foundation, I look forward to supporting our colleagues, serving our clients, and helping ensure that Delaware remains a place where talented people can thrive."
Delaware remains one of the nation's most significant jurisdictions for IP disputes. Fish's office in Wilmington plays an important role in serving innovative companies across industries and allows the firm to remain closely connected to key courts and clients.
Oakes is a life sciences litigator who has spent his entire 18-year legal career with Fish and also served as a summer associate during law school. Throughout his career, he has advised and represented companies in complex IP matters, earning the trust of clients and colleagues through his strategic judgment, practical approach, and commitment to achieving business-focused outcomes.
Oakes succeeds Susan Morrison, who is stepping down after leading the Delaware office for the past decade. During her tenure, she helped guide the office’s growth while fostering a strong culture of collegiality, mentorship, and client service.
