Fish & Richardson Recognized as a 2023 Tipping the Scales Firm by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance

Fish & Richardson has been recognized as a 2023 Tipping the Scales firm by the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance for promoting a 2023 principal class composed of at least 50% women.

"We are thrilled to be recognized by the Alliance as a Tipping the Scales firm,” said Director of Diversity & Inclusion Whitney Smallwood. "Fish strives to meet and exceed our diversity and inclusion benchmarks of success each year. Recognition such as this remains an important indicator of that progress.”

Fish stands out as one of 78 firms recognized by the Alliance for “Tipping the Scales” towards gender parity by advancing a principal class with at least 50% women. This is the second time Fish has received this honor.

Fish continues to prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as the firm builds on its longstanding efforts to recruit, mentor, and promote the next generation of talented women lawyers. EMPOWER, Fish’s women’s initiative for female legal staff, chiefs, and directors, offers support by expanding professional and business development opportunities in addition to curating opportunities for mentorship, training, and networking. The group was established in 2009 and has been a key driver in spearheading processes to reduce bias in the promotion process, advocating for improvements to parental leave policies, and developing strategies to train and support female professionals.

Fish’s Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan provides benchmarks to promote a respectful and inclusive environment that values the diversity of people, experiences, capabilities, and perspectives. Elevating the diverse backgrounds at Fish ensures that all perspectives support and enhance the quality of legal services we provide to our clients.
