Fish Ranks in Top 15 Percent of Law Firms for Diversity
Boston, MA, June 19, 2014 - Fish & Richardson announced today that it ranked in the top 15 percent of law firms for diversity, according to the 2014 American Lawyer (Am Law) Diversity Scorecard. Fish was ranked 33 out of 223 firms, based on the number of minorities in its offices. The 2014 Am Law Diversity Scorecard is comprised of survey results of the Am Law 200 and National Law Journal (NLJ) 250 law firms.
"We are thrilled to have received such a high ranking for our diversity efforts. At Fish, our mission is to promote a creative, respectful, and inclusive culture that values the diversity of people, experiences, perspectives, talents, and capabilities," said Ahmed J. Davis, National Chair of Diversity Initiative and Principal of the firm. "But we do not intend to rest on our laurels, as there is still much work to be done. Diversity in the legal profession is not merely the right thing to do, it makes good business sense."
Fish is consistently recognized as one of the country’s top law firms for diversity. Fish received a top rating of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) 2014 Corporate Equality Index, which rates businesses for the treatment of LGBT employees in the workplace. The firm was named by Vault, Inc. to the Best Law Firms for Diversity: Diversity for Minorities Top 25 list in 2013, and has been included for seven consecutive years in MultiCultural Law magazine's list of the Top 100 Law Firms for Diversity.
The Diversity Scorecard contains detailed information on 2013 minority legal staffing at law firms in the NLJ 350 and Am Law 200. Scorecard rankings are determined by adding the percentage of minority lawyers (African-American, Asian-American, Hispanic and multiracial) in a firm's U.S. offices to the percentage of its U.S. based minority partners.
