Fish & Richardson Recognized by Managing IP With Impact Case of the Year Award
Fish & Richardson has been recognized as an Impact Case of the Year honoree in Managing IP’s 2026 Americas Awards for its work securing a precedential Federal Circuit victory for client LG Electronics.
Concluding a decade-long patent dispute against Mondis Technology Ltd. and Maxell Ltd. over display technology used in LG televisions, the August 2025 Federal Circuit decision reversed a $14.3 million judgment and invalidated the asserted claims of Mondis’ patent, finding that they lacked adequate written description under federal patent law. The Fish team representing LG included Michael Ballanco, Andy Schwentker, Christian Chu, and Michael McKeon.
In addition to Fish’s Impact Case of the Year recognition, the firm was shortlisted for five regional and national awards:
- Firm of the Year – Patent Prosecution (Northeast U.S.)
- Firm of the Year – Patent Disputes (Northeast U.S.)
- Firm of the Year – PTAB (Nationwide)
- Firm of the Year – IP Boutique (Nationwide)
- Firm of the Year – ITC (Nationwide)
The Managing IP Americas Awards acknowledge firms and individual practitioners for their outstanding intellectual property achievements in the last year, with more than 90 award categories across IP practice areas. This year’s honorees were recognized at a private ceremony in New York City on April 9.
