Overview

Shihong Li, Ph.D., focuses his practice on patent prosecution and portfolio development across a broad range of technologies, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, semiconductor and computer architecture, medical devices, autonomous systems, robotics, consumer electronics, and advanced mechanical systems. 

He assists clients with drafting and prosecuting patent applications, developing global prosecution strategies, and evaluating patentability and potential infringement issues before litigation. 

 

Shihong earned a Ph.D. in solid mechanics and an M.S. in applied mathematics. His technical background includes the theoretical and computational analysis of advanced mechanical structures, stability and failure of mechanical designs, and the behavior of materials across multiple scales. His research and experience have encompassed soft matter, granular materials, lattice structures, and battery materials. 

 

Through his graduate studies in applied mathematics and his professional experience, Shihong has developed strong theoretical and practical knowledge in artificial intelligence and machine learning. His experience includes AI software, specialized hardware architectures for AI applications, and mechanical and medical devices incorporating AI-based functionality. He has worked with technologies involving large language models, reinforcement learning, autonomous driving, computer vision and perception, automation, virtual and augmented reality, and robotic control and design. He is also proficient in C++, Python, and Fortran. 

Shihong has also gained extensive experience working in medical device technologies, including injection devices, medical pumps, dental devices, and noninvasive patient-tracking and diagnostic systems.
