Overview

Sergio Pineda Flores focuses his practice on patent drafting and prosecution covering a range of technologies, with a particular emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML).

Before joining Fish & Richardson, Sergio worked on an AI and ML business modeling team at JPMorgan Chase, where he developed ML models at scale from inception to production, including collaborating with business partners to define beneficial projects, developing models, designing model performance monitoring metrics, and contributing new ideas to automate the model lifecycle.

Sergio’s prior experience also includes working as a staff computer scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a role in which he integrated model parallel neural networks into hydrodynamics simulations that utilized the Arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method to increase simulation accuracy.

As a postdoctoral researcher in applied physics at the California Institute of Technology, Sergio coupled computational quantum chemistry wave function methods to computational condensed matter physics mean field methods to study interactions between electronic and nuclear vibrational motion (e.g., nonadiabatic coupling, electron-phonon scattering, exciton-phonon scattering) in strongly correlated materials.

When Sergio is not working, he enjoys jogging recreationally to explore new places, whether they are in nature or in a city.
