Overview

Ethan Kovar focuses his practice on patent and copyright litigation for clients in the energy, chemical, technology, and consumer products sectors. This includes cases involving chemical processing, petrochemicals, power generation, mobile devices, medical devices, and consumer products.

Ethan’s legal experience includes drafting dispositive motions, taking and defending depositions, claim construction, expert reports, pleadings, managing discovery, and patent diligence.

In 2023, Ethan received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a James Kent Scholar, the editor-in-chief of the Columbia Science and Technology Law Review, and awarded the Carroll G. Harper Award. Before law school, he received a B.S., cum laude, in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He then worked as a chemical engineer for BP in its advanced technology products division, designing and producing petrochemicals. His engineering background and experience give him technical expertise in chemical processing, oil production and refining, petrochemicals, and tribology.
