Fish & Richardson Expands Technical Team with Addition of Technology Specialist and China Patent Advisors in Early 2025

Fish & Richardson welcomes a new technology specialist and patent agent as well as two China patent advisors in the first half of 2025, further expanding the firm’s technical depth and global capabilities.

Technology Specialist and Patent Agent

Katie Bitting, Ph.D., supports clients in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology industries with patent prosecution. She brings experience across a wide range of subject areas, including organic synthesis, chemical biology, and molecular biology. Prior to beginning her career in law, Bitting served as an assistant professor of chemistry at West Virginia State University, and as a postdoctoral researcher at North Carolina State University. She earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from Duke University and her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and molecular biology from Sweet Briar College.

China Patent Advisors*

Hao Gao supports clients in patent drafting, prosecution, and counseling across electrical and computer technologies. Her technical experience spans artificial intelligence, semiconductors, telecommunications, and cleantech. She earned her Master of Laws from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in materials science and engineering from Johns Hopkins University, and a bachelor’s degree in the same field from Southeast University.

Nengjia Shi focuses on patent prosecution and portfolio counseling in telecommunications, electrical devices, and machine learning. Prior to joining Fish, he served as a patent examiner with the China National Intellectual Property Administration. He earned his master’s degree in electronic and information engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University and his bachelor’s degree in telecommunications engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology.
