Fish & Richardson Announces Frank Gerratana and Kimberly McLaughlin Selected for Excellence in the Law Awards by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly
Fish & Richardson today announced that principal Frank Gerratana has been named a 2016 "Up & Coming Lawyer" and senior marketing manager Kimberly McLaughlin has been recognized for "Excellence in Marketing" by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. Gerratana and McLaughlin will be honored at a reception in Boston on May 4, 2016.
The "Up & Coming Lawyer" award is given to a small group of attorneys who have distinguished themselves in the practice of law after only 10 years or less of practice. Gerratana, who is a principal in Fish's Patent Group, focuses his practice in the technology areas of computer software and hardware, electronics, and medical devices. He helps startups and established companies develop and manage their patent portfolios, including patent preparation and prosecution, due diligence, and general counseling. Gerratana also does extensive pro bono work with the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts and many other organizations.
He received his J.D. from the American University Washington College of Law in 2008, and his M.S. in computer science (2005) and B.S., with high distinction, in electrical engineering and computer science (2004) from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
McLaughlin is one of only two legal marketing executives who were singled out for this year's "Excellence in Marketing" award. As the global marketing manager for Fish's Transactional practices, McLaughlin leads marketing and business development initiatives across 12 U.S. and international offices for the firm's Patent, Trademark & Copyright, and Regulatory Groups. One of her recent successful marketing efforts has been promoting the firm's expertise in post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), a nascent legal procedure created by the America Invents Act (AIA) of 2011. As a result of McLaughlin's efforts, Fish continues to establish itself as a leader in this new practice area, and is ranked as one of the busiest firms at the PTAB since the inception of the AIA's new post-grant rules.
McLaughlin joined Fish in 2004 and is a member of the Legal Marketing Association. She received her B.S. in marketing from Providence College in 2003.
