Betty Chen Named a 2020 On the Rise - Top 40 Young Lawyer by the ABA

Fish & Richardson is pleased to announce that Betty Chen has been named an On the Rise - Top 40 Young Lawyer for 2020 by the American Bar Association (ABA) Young Lawyers Division. The attorneys honored exemplify a broad range of high achievement, innovation, vision, leadership, and service to the profession and their communities.

Chen focuses her practice on high-tech litigation for industry-leading pharmaceutical companies, Fortune 100 technology companies and more. She is lead counsel on patent, trade secret, antitrust, breach of contract, and fraud disputes in some of the nation's highest-profile IP disputes involving smartphone technology. Recently, she handled three separate cases that each resulted in the plaintiffs voluntarily dismissing their multimillion-dollar cases against her clients for $0.

One of the youngest leaders at Fish, Chen's dedication to diversity is an inspiration to young women and minority attorneys at the firm. The first minority woman to serve as Fish's Global Hiring Principal, she oversees hiring across the firm's 14 offices. Her pro bono and community work also serve to advance women and minorities in the legal profession and access to justice to under-served people in the community.

Chen received her J.D. from the University of Texas Law School in 2006 and her B.S. in business from the University of Southern California in 2003.
