Fish & Richardson Receives Top "Band 1" 2018 Rankings for Intellectual Property and ITC Practices from Chambers Global

Fish & Richardson received top "Band 1" rankings in the U.S. for its Intellectual Property (IP) patent practice and its International Trade Commission (ITC) practice in the Chambers Global 2018 rankings. The "Band 1" designation is the highest ranking possible and means that Fish has been identified as among the world's best law firms based on in-depth, objective research with thousands of lawyers and clients. According to Chambers, Fish is known for its "stellar litigation group" and it "enjoys a fine track record for its work before the ITC."

Several principals at Fish also received top Band rankings in Chambers Global 2018. In the patent IP category, the "very impressive" Juanita Brooks was noted for her "excellent reputation" representing life sciences companies in complex patent litigation; the "super smart" DJ Healey was called "one of the very best patent litigators in the U.S.;" the "top-notch" Ruffin Cordell is a "spectacular lawyer" who "draws much praise for his advocacy skills;" and Michael McKeon, who is "acclaimed for his work," was noted for his strengths in technology-related matters. Both Cordell and McKeon also received Band 1 rankings in the ITC category.

Fish's global IP patent litigation practice provides strategic counseling, litigation, and prosecution for clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations to world-renowned academic and research institutions. Fish's world-class ITC team includes 32 principals who have led hundreds of ITC patent cases, many of which have helped define IP law at the ITC and beyond. Fish is handling 16 of the ITC cases filed in 2017, which represents 25% of all cases filed at this forum in 2017, making Fish the busiest national firm practicing at the ITC.

The Chambers Guides have been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, and now cover 190 countries across the world. Inclusion in Chambers is based solely on the findings of its research teams, who conduct extensive, confidential interviews with thousands of lawyers and clients to identify the leading law firms and lawyers worldwide. Individual lawyers are ranked on the basis of their legal knowledge and experience, ability, effectiveness, and client service. Law firms are ranked on the same qualities, as well as overall effectiveness and capability. Rankings are grouped in bands from 1-6, with 1 being the best.
