Overview

Hanchao Zhao, Ph.D., focuses his practice on patent drafting, prosecution, and counseling in broad aspects of life sciences.

Hanchao frequently handles matters involving antibody therapeutics, transgenic animals, anti-cancer drugs, microarray technology, nanoparticle technology, vaccines, and related fields in pharmaceutical industries.

Hanchao has extensive research experience and training in biochemistry, molecular biology, structural biology, cancer biology, microbiology, and virology. Hanchao received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he collaborated with a pharmaceutical company and academic labs to investigate small-molecule drug inhibition mechanisms, using both experimental and theoretical methods. His work revealed a novel mechanism for the development of the benzoxaboroles as a broad spectrum antibacterial. Hanchao has co-authored multiple research articles in top-tier journals and given presentations/posters at international conferences.

Hanchao is a J.D. candidate at Suffolk University Law School. In his free time, he enjoys visiting museums and zoos. Hanchao was also trained to play table tennis at a professional level.
