A The Year in Patent Law at the C.A.F.C. and the U.S. Supreme Court
It's been a busy year for patent law in the courts, with the Supreme Court deciding a number of important cases, the Federal Circuit tackling other important issues, and the role of Patent Office appeals beginning its inevitable climb in importance with IPR appeals on the near horizon. Two experienced appellate attorneys - one from private practice and one the Solicitor for the Patent Office - will discuss the most important and/or the most interesting of these cases, with a goal of giving you digestible tips for dealing with your clients.
John A. Dragseth & Nathan Kelley

September 18 | 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. BREAKOUT SESSION B
Post-Grant Challenges at the PTO: Process and Strategy
The America Invents Act (AIA) created several new options for companies to challenge patent grants, including inter partes review, post-grant review and covered business method patent review. This presentation will provide a brief overview of each of these new procedures and identify strategic considerations that companies should consider as they decide whether to utilize one of these new proceedings as the forum to challenge a patent as opposed to other options such as litigating in district court.
