Background

Tim Rawson is a litigation Associate in the Southern California office of Fish & Richardson.  His practice involves all aspects of intellectual property litigation and advising, with an emphasis on patent litigation. Tim has experience in all phases of litigation, including drafting and arguing motions and participating in trial in federal district court as well as taking depositions of inventors and technical and survey experts.  Tim has represented clients in the Southern and Central Districts of California, the Eastern District of Texas, Delaware, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and the Federal Circuit in industries including telecommunications, gaming, automotive, semiconductor, food and beverage, and consumer products. Tim’s pro bono work has included representation of multiple clients through grants of asylum and advising low-income startup and non-profit clients on intellectual property matters.

Before joining Fish & Richardson, Tim served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Jimmie V. Reyna of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit from 2018 to 2019. Tim also clerked for the Honorable K. Nicole Mitchell of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas from 2014 to 2015. While in law school, Tim worked as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable John D. Love in the Eastern District of Texas and served as the Digital Media Editor on the Editorial Board of the Pepperdine Law Review.

Before his legal career, Tim practiced mechanical engineering for over six years. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. His broad range of engineering experience includes missile control and aircraft system design and providing consulting services for mechanical facility and infrastructure systems.
