Won S. Yoon is dedicated to helping clients with a variety of patent legal services ranging from patent prosecution, Patent Trial and Appeal Board post-grant proceedings, due diligence, infringement and invalidity opinions, and freedom to operate analysis.
Won’s legal practice is based on an extensive technical background in numerous areas of electrical engineering and computer science, including communication systems and networks, standard essential patents, dynamic feedback control, photonics, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Won’s technical background includes research at Lucent Bell Laboratories, MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and IBM T.J. Watson Research Laboratories. Won’s graduate studies at MIT’s electrical engineering and computer science department included Ph.D.-equivalent coursework and research in the fields of control and communication technologies.

Patenting dynamic feedback control techniques in wellbore operations for a multinational oil and energy company;
Patenting novel machine-learning speech recognition and image recognition for a multinational computer software company;
Protecting a multinational consumer electronics company against infringement allegations through successful inter partes review (IPR) of competing patents related to mobile inter-networking; and
Conducting invalidity and infringement due diligence for an extensive portfolio of standard essential patents (SEPs) for a multinational consumer electronics company in 4G/5G wireless communications.
