Overview

Kwangho (James) Jang helps tech companies create, manage, and monetize their intellectual property portfolios across a wide range of industries. He also lends his technical expertise to clients facing disputes in District Court, the International Trade Commission (ITC), and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

James has worked with companies ranging from start-ups to multinational corporations to prosecute patents across a broad range of technologies, including medical devices, batteries, display devices, artificial intelligence, computer and software technology, power systems, hydraulic systems, construction machinery, fiber optics, and other mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical devices.

He also brings this technical depth to litigation matters in District Court and the ITC, where he has conducted technical analysis and due diligence review of patents under dispute. In addition, James has handled inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and worked with foreign counsel in European oppositions.

Prior to his legal career, James was a research engineer for one of the world’s most prominent display manufacturers. When he isn’t practicing law, he enjoys playing Lego or board games with his daughter and riding his bike through downtown Chicago.
