Overview

Jory Hoffman represents clients in litigation matters spanning all areas of intellectual property law. 

With extensive experience encompassing complex commercial litigation and multi-district antitrust class actions, Jory has drafted pleadings, discovery motions, dispositive motions, and appellate briefs; taken and defended depositions; and argued motions in federal court. He has successfully presented oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and excels in strategic case management, including developing litigation strategies and collaborating with expert witnesses. 

Jory is particularly noted for his written advocacy skills. Recognized for clarity, precision, and persuasive writing, he takes pride in making complex ideas accessible both inside and outside the courtroom. Before joining Fish & Richardson, Jory practiced at a leading global law firm and co-founded Write.law, an innovative training company specializing in advanced legal writing and advocacy for AmLaw 100 firms, federal agencies, and law schools. 

Jory maintains an active pro bono practice, securing asylum for a refugee from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and obtaining habeas relief for a wrongfully convicted prisoner. 

While attending the University of Michigan Law School, Jory participated in the Criminal Appellate Practice Clinic and served as managing blog editor for the Michigan Journal of International Law. 

Outside of his professional practice, Jory has a passion for languages and enjoys exploring different cultures through travel. He also loves backcountry camping and history.
