Fish files brief in response to same-sex marriage ban

John Dragseth, co-chair of the Appellate Group at Fish & Richardson in Twin Cities, has extensive expertise in high-profile patent cases.This week, he put his appellate expertise to work in a high-profile, potentially groundbreaking case involving same-sex marriage.Dragseth represents Chris Kluwe, the punter for the NFL's Minnesota Vikings, and Brendon Ayanbadejo, the linebacker and a three-time Pro Bowler for the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens.Kluwe and Ayanbadejo are outspoken proponents of same-sex marriage.In February, they filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn California's same-sex marriage ban and give same-sex couples the constitutional right to wed.Fish is handling the case pro bono.Co-counsel on the brief is Associate Dean of Faculty and Professor Timothy R. Holbrook of Emory University School of Law.
