Fish & Richardson Principal Anita Meiklejohn, Ph.D., Named 2017 "Top Woman of Law" Honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly

Fish & Richardson announced today that principal Anita Meiklejohn, Ph.D. has been named a 2017 "Top Woman of Law" by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly (MLW) for her "great accomplishments in the legal field." MLW singles out an elite group of "exceptional" pioneers, educators, trailblazers, and role models for this prestigious award each year. Dr. Meiklejohn will receive her award at an event in Boston on November 2, 2017.

Dr. Meiklejohn has been a respected and sought-after patent advisor in the multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical and biotech industry for almost 30 years. She focuses her practice on patent prosecution, validity and infringement opinions, and litigation for pharmaceutical biotechnology clients ranging from startup and emerging companies to academic and research institutions and established biopharma corporations. Dr. Meiklejohn helps clients develop strong intellectual property portfolios of patented drugs and therapies that profoundly improve the quality of, and sometimes save, individuals' lives.

She is an elected member of Fish's nine-person Management Committee, has served as the Deputy Practice Group Leader for the Patent Practice Group for 10 years, and as a member of the firm's Professional Development Subcommittee for five years. She is also an active member of Women in Bio, Boston Chapter, which promotes careers, leadership and entrepreneurship for women in the life sciences.

Dr. Meiklejohn received her J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School in 1995, her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1987 and her B.A., with honors, in chemistry from Cornell University in 1981. She was a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard University in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
