Fish & Richardson Attorneys Danielle (DJ) Healey and Dr. Tasha Francis Honored as "Influential Women in IP" by World Intellectual Property Review

Fish & Richardson senior principal Danielle (DJ) Healey and Dr. Tasha Francis have been named an "Influential Women in IP" by World Intellectual Property Review for 2019. The 80 women featured in the inaugural edition "represent some of the most prominent lawyers in the industry." Dr. Tasha Francis, an associate at Fish, was among 20 attorneys with less than 10 years of practice who were recognized as “trailblazers” who are “making their mark on the IP industry.”

Healey is an accomplished patent trial lawyer who has held various leadership roles over the past 32 years, including opening and growing the firm's Houston office. Some of the biggest technology companies in the world have turned to Healey for their high-stakes patent and trade secret litigation. She has argued patent cases in federal district courts across the country and before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, and was co-counsel on a recent patent case at the Supreme Court of the United States. Healey also is a World Intellectual Property Organization arbitrator and a certified mediator. In addition to her IP practice, Healey has an active pro bono practice, addressing immigration and civil rights issues, and is an advocate for LGBTQ rights.

Dr. Francis represents large pharmaceutical and biotech companies worldwide. In 2018, she was a part of the Fish team that won a motion for JMOL that reversed a $2.5 billion jury verdict - the largest patent damages award in history - against client Gilead Sciences. Dr. Francis focuses her practice on Hatch-Waxman litigation, post-grant proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and proceedings related to the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation Act. She also works with pro bono clients on issues related to patent applications, contract disputes and habeas petitions. Dedicated to advancing women in STEM and the law, she co-chairs the Women's Initiative Group in Fish's Twin Cities office and the IP Committee of the Minnesota chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
