Fish & Richardson Named Finalist in San Diego Business Journal's Diversity & Inclusion Awards

Fish & Richardson has been named a finalist in the San Diego Business Journal's Diversity & Inclusion Awards, honoring companies for longstanding dedication to promoting, building and sustaining diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

Local industry experts and award nominees gathered on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla for a panel discussion and awards ceremony celebrating the exceptional individuals, teams and companies making strides to diversify their industries.

Although the legal industry has historically not been diverse or inclusive, Fish has long sought to address these issues, becoming a leader in the development of innovative policies and supporting a culture that promotes diversity and inclusion at all levels.

Fish understands its most valuable asset is its people. That's why the firm fosters a work environment based on the diverse experiences, perspectives and talents of each team member. In doing so, Fish's distinct team with broad backgrounds in the legal and technological arenas provides unique viewpoints that result in innovate solutions for clients in global patent, intellectual property and litigation matters.

Fish's commitment to diversity is evidenced by its many initiatives, committees and programs that foster an innovative, respectful and inclusive professional environment and build strong community connections with various outside professional and nonprofit groups.

Fish has been recognized for its continued work to diversify the legal industry. In August 2017, the firm was named one of the 20 "Best Law Firms for Minority Attorneys" by Law360 - and one of only five firms in the 300-599 lawyers category - based on a survey of more than 300 U.S. firms.

Fish was ranked in the top 15 percent of law firms for diversity on the 2016 American Lawyer Diversity Scorecard. Also in 2016, the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index named Fish a "Best Place to Work for LGBT Equality" and the Profiles in Diversity Journal awarded Fish with the "Diversity Leader Award." Fish was also named to Vault, Inc.'s lists for: Best Law Firms for Diversity, Minorities, Individuals with Disabilities and Military Veterans.
