Background

Dexter S. Whitley, Ph.D. is an Associate in the Atlanta office of Fish & Richardson. He has experience in multiple stages of litigation, and his practice focuses primarily on patent litigation.

Dr. Whitley earned his J.D. from the University of Miami and his Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. As a graduate student, his research focused on identifying viral genes required for virion assembly. As a Post-Doctoral Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis, Dr. Whitley conducted gene therapy studies with the aim of treating endometrial cancer and xerostomia using viral vectors.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Dr. Whitley taught Molecular Biology, Immunology, and Physiology at Tougaloo College. He was a Summer Associate of the firm in 2016.
