Lais Ghiraldeli litigates complex patent disputes for life sciences innovators, with a particular focus on pharmaceuticals and pharmacology.
Lais has experience across all phases of patent litigation, with a focus on Hatch-Waxman matters. She has contributed to a successful motion for preliminary injunction, prepared direct and cross examinations for fact and expert witnesses, and participated in numerous fact and expert witness depositions. Her experience also includes drafting pleadings and motions, infringement and validity contentions, expert reports, claim construction briefs, and pre- and post-trial submissions, as well as conducting legal and technical analysis on infringement, validity, and regulatory issues, and assisting with settlement efforts. Beyond litigation, Lais has experience with pharmaceutical patent prosecution and patent strategy.
Drawing on her background as a chemist, Lais brings deep technical knowledge to her work for life sciences clients. She holds a master's degree in integrative physiology and pharmacology and a bachelor's degree in chemistry, with a minor in mathematics. Before pursuing a career in the legal profession, Lais conducted original scientific research focused on cancer biology, pharmacology, and drug mechanisms. Her scientific research has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
In her free time, Lais enjoys hosting family and friends in her home, working on home DIY projects, traveling, and rooting for the New England Patriots.
