Overview

Jeffrey Barclay provides strategic counseling and helps companies build and monetize their intellectual property portfolios. Along with U.S. and international patent prosecution, he has extensive experience building global patent portfolios, licensing technologies, and assisting with litigation matters. Representative clients include Fortune 100 corporations, mid-sized companies, and early-stage and venture-backed companies.

Jeffrey works with companies across a broad range of technologies, including software and computer engineering, robotics, artificial intelligence, signal processing, telecommunication, cybersecurity, medical devices, wireless devices and other electromagnetic based systems, imaging devices, acoustics, analog and digital circuitry, consumer products, and financial services.

Prosecution experience includes preparation and prosecution of patent applications, due diligence investigations, patentability and freedom to operate opinions, and inter partes and ex parte reexamination proceedings. Hundreds of patent applications across a wide range of technologies have been drafted and prosecuted. He also helps clients protect, defend, and monetize their intellectual property assets by leveraging his technical background to develop effective licensing and litigation strategies.

Jeffrey started his career as an electrical engineer for over ten years with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center in Newport, Rhode Island. Along with serving as an electrical engineer in the submarine electromagnetic systems department, he also served as an electrical engineer in the submarine sonar department. While attending Northeastern University, Jeffrey was a research assistant at the radar systems laboratory within the Electromagnetic Research Center.
