Overview

Charles Bahlert focuses his practice on global trademark and copyright counseling, strategy, and prosecution, as well as enforcement and litigation for companies ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 500.

He counsels clients on all aspects of brand protection and enforcement in the U.S. and internationally, including selection and clearance of trademarks, prosecution of trademark applications, and licensing and transactions. He represents clients in U.S. District Courts, in disputes before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in arbitration proceedings involving domain names. His well-rounded experience gives him a deep appreciation for the economics of legal matters and helps him provide business-focused, cost-aware advice to clients.

Charles takes a real-world approach to legal matters and tailors his advice to help clients avoid surprises and unintended consequences. For both prosecution and litigation, he advises top global companies, including transformative industries such as food science, e-commerce, and life sciences. His clients includes Marvell Technology Group, a semiconductor company; Playtika, a mobile gaming group; eHarmony, an online dating service; and a fast-paced new player in the plant-based food science industry. He has filed more than 200 patents and has had numerous disputes resolved.

Before joining a law firm, Charles clerked for the National Football League and was a legal extern for the Oakland Raiders.

Outside of the office, Charles donates his time to The Guardsmen, a San Francisco nonprofit organization that raises money for at-risk youth in the Bay Area.
