Building Business at SXSW: Festival-Going Lawyers Mix and Mingle With People in Tech and Entertainment Biz
This year, Fish & Richardson had the opportunity to sponsor and participate in several SXSW events during the Interactive Festival. Kicking off the week, Fish Principal Ryan McCarthy, resident in Fish’s Austin office, participated in a mentoring session where he dedicated several seven-minute windows of time to creative professionals who were just starting out.
Fish closed SXSWi with an IP Workshop during the day. In the evening, Texas Lawyer talked to Ryan about the intellectual property-themed pub quiz that Fish held at Conjunctured, a co-working space. Ryan spoke with Texas Lawyer about our interest in SXSW and what Ryan was hoping to gain from having a presence, “You get an eye into how the world is evolving and changing. ... That’s the huge benefit.”
“Fish hopes to be able to educate the creative community about IP law and hopes to make its brand more well-known, which eventually could pay off with new clients, said McCarthy.”
