Background

Moses A. Heyward is an Associate in the patent group in Fish & Richardson’s Boston office. Mr. Heyward’s legal experience includes management of international patent portfolios, strategic patent counseling, patent portfolio development, patent prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, due diligence counseling for investments and acquisitions, patent acceleration strategies counseling, patent litigation support, and design patent counseling. Moses advises clients on implementing strategies to protect their businesses, products and investments through intellectual property rights with a focus on the mechanical and electromechanical arts.  He has worked in a variety of technical areas, and worked as a Mechanical Engineer prior to his legal career.

Moses counsels clients on patent strategies related to technologies including medical devices, automotive and engine systems and components, robotic systems and components, consumer products, manufacturing equipment, sports equipment, imaging systems, measurement and control instrumentation.  Within the medical device field Moses has advised clients on patent strategies related to circulatory support systems, heart pumps, orthopedic implants, surgical tools, and alignment devices, non-invasive intravascular surgical devices, intravascular implants, blood filtration and infusion systems, and non-invasive medical imaging systems.
