Background

​Dr. Yunbo Guo is a Technology Specialist, Patent Agent in Fish & Richardson’s Austin office. He has over nine years of interdisciplinary research experiences on optical devices and systems (optical sensors, fiber optics, integrated optics), laser systems (fiber lasers, optofluidic lasers, laser diodes), semiconductor, electronics, nanotechnology, medical devices, and computer technology. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Guo was a research scientist for Omega Optics, Inc., where he conceived and developed a photodetector integrated photonic crystal structure, and broadly applied it in acoustic transducer arrays, label-free biosensors, and ultrasound medical imaging systems. Dr. Guo also has previous experience as a research fellow in the department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan, where he performed interdisciplinary research in the areas of fiber/capillary systems, optofluidics, Raman spectroscopy, and fluorescence immunoassay. During his PhD study, Dr. Guo developed a novel photonic crystal sensor for sensitive biomolecular detection, which a startup company was founded upon.  Dr. Guo has over 30 publications in refereed journals and conferences, and holds seven U.S. and PCT patents and patent applications. He also served as a reviewer for over ten peer-reviewed journals, including Applied Physics Letters, Optics Express, Optics Letters, and Journal of Biophotonics.
