Background

Aamir Kazi is a Principal in the Atlanta office. His practice includes patent, trademark, and trade secret litigation, high-tech commercial litigation, due diligence, licensing, and intellectual property counseling. Mr. Kazi has advised clients in Georgia state courts; federal courts in California, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, and Texas; and in proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He also has significant experience in front of the United States International Trade Commission in Section 337 proceedings.

Mr. Kazi has experience with all phases of litigation, starting with formulating case strategy at the outset of the case; effectively and efficiently managing complex discovery, including expert discovery; arguing at Markman hearings and summary judgment, and culminating in bench or jury trial.

Mr. Kazi’s litigation and counseling background encompasses a range of technologies, such as cellular telephony networks and systems; GPRS, EDGE and LTE telecommunication standards, 802.11 and 802.15.4 networking technologies; building, home, and process automation tools; and flat-panel televisions, touchscreens, and network adapter technology. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kazi gained valuable technical experience working in various roles in software development. In those roles he obtained significant experience with different programming and scripting languages, including Java, C, C++, Smalltalk/Squeak, Perl, JavaScript, ASP, and SQL, and various software design principles, including object oriented design, multi-tier architectures, and relational database design.
