Background

Tucker Mottl is an Associate in Fish & Richardson’s Silicon Valley office. Tucker focuses his practice on patent litigation in federal district court. He has trial experience in Northern District of California and the District of Delaware, including assisting with direct and cross-examinations in three federal jury trials. Tucker has pretrial experience conducting discovery, drafting motions, reviewing expert reports, preparing for depositions, and asserting and defending claims for patent damages.

In addition, Tucker helps immigrant children to obtain special immigrant juvenile status (SIJS) pro bono. He recently developed, filed, and successfully argued an SIJS petition in California state court.

Prior to joining Fish, Tucker studied the bioorganic chemical ecology and allelopathy of Antarctic symbionts through international research collaborations with the National Science Foundation, the Fulbright Program, and the University of Cádiz.  During law school, Tucker applied his background in chemical ecology at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Justice.
