Overview

Patrick Rothstein, Ph.D., focuses his practice on patent prosecution in the areas of chemistry, pharmaceuticals, polymer science, biotechnology, oil and gas, food and beverage, nanotechnology, and materials science. In particular, his patent prosecution practice includes U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, strategic client counseling, due diligence, patentability and freedom-to-operate opinions, and post-grant proceedings.

Patrick has experience prosecuting patent applications at the United States Patent and Trademark Office and foreign patent offices, working with clients to develop prosecution strategies related to their innovations, and counseling clients regarding invalidity, freedom to operate, patentability, non-infringement, and due diligence matters.

Prior to his patent practice, Patrick earned his Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Notre Dame, where he designed and synthesized catalysts for small molecule activations. He also worked as a research assistant at the University of Minnesota, where he received his B.S. in chemistry, and a research assistant at Pohang University of Science and Technology in South Korea.
