About Laura

Laura Daly, Ph.D., is a European Patent Attorney in the Austin office of Fish & Richardson P.C. She focuses her practice on patent prosecution and counseling, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications, strategic IP and portfolio management, patent analytics and valuation, IP risk management, patent validity analysis, European opposition proceedings, and litigation support. Her areas of technical expertise include graphics, machine learning, CPU microarchitecture, semiconductors, computer systems and software, and radio technologies. Prior to joining Fish, Dr. Daly was a senior in-house patent counsel for a semiconductor and software design company in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Before entering the legal profession Dr. Daly worked as a research physicist at Mullard Space Science Laboratory, University College London, where she specialized in satellite based instrumentation and multi-wavelength analysis of solar flare plasmas. Outside of work Dr. Daly maintains a keen interest in data analytics, particularly usage in professional sports.
