Overview

Kim Leung’s practice focuses on patents with a primary concentration on post-grant proceedings. Kim also has experience in U.S. and foreign patent prosecution, patent strategic counseling, patentability analysis, and intellectual property portfolio management.

Kim’s technical experience spans a variety of areas, including semiconductor devices and manufacturing, solid-state devices and manufacturing, data processing hardware and software, computer graphics and image processing, audio signal processing, speech signal processing, information security, digital communications, telecommunications, mobile and internet technologies, geographical information systems, error detection and correction, graphical user interfaces, medical devices, battery technologies, thermal management, process management, power management, MEMS devices and fabrication, electronic circuits and systems, information storage, retrieval, and presentation, optical devices, and food and beverage products.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Kim was a legal extern for the office of general counsel at the University of Nevada, and a legal extern for the Honorable Michael L. Douglas of the Supreme Court of Nevada. Her previous engineering experience includes work as a hardware engineer for Information Systems Laboratories of San Diego, California. Her engineering experience involved mixed-signal systems, electromagnetic sensor systems, data acquisition systems, wireless communication systems, and signal processing systems for medical devices and electromagnetic field detection devices, and fast-time analysis systems for full spectrum acoustic processing and display of recorded acoustic signals.

Kim’s success at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board led to her being named one of the “Top 50 Women in PTAB Trials” by the PTAB Bar Association and one of the “Top 30 PTAB Practitioners” by Managing Intellectual Property.
