Overview

Joy Kete litigates global, multi-jurisdictional patent disputes in U.S. District Courts and at the U.S. International Trade Commission. Her substantial trial experience and deep understanding of all stages of the trial process are the foundation for her skillful, strategic management of cases from start to finish.  

From formulating high-level trial strategy to keeping track of a wide range of case details, Joy has the organizational prowess required to maintain momentum during the trial process, as well as a communicative approach that ensures her clients remain well informed at every stage of litigation. 

Joy’s litigation and stand-up experience includes conducting direct and cross examinations at jury and bench trials; taking and defending dozens of depositions; preparing witnesses for both deposition and trial testimony; writing and arguing substantive motions; arguing motions for summary judgment and pre-trial and trial motions; and working on all aspects of fact and expert discovery. She is known for a calm, reassuring demeanor that puts her witnesses at ease and a thorough approach to witness preparation that equips them to confidently fulfill their role in a deposition or trial. 

Before joining Fish, Joy was a senior associate in the intellectual property litigation practice at a large national law firm.  

Joy played tennis as a college student-athlete and is always looking for opportunities to get back out on the court.
