Overview

John Treilhard’s practice focuses on patent prosecution in the machine learning space, particularly in the applications of machine learning in the life sciences, e.g., drug discovery, protein structure prediction, genomic analysis, etc. John has prosecuted hundreds of patent applications directed to machine learning inventions.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, John completed an M.Sc. at the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Yale University, where he developed machine learning algorithms for medical image analysis. He also completed an M.Sc. at the Department of Mathematics at Queen’s University, where he researched the theory and applications of stochastic analysis. John has authored or co-authored five scientific publications.

John previously held research appointments at the National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Automation in Nice, France, and the Department of Mathematics at the University of Saarland in Saarbrucken, Germany.

John grew up on a homestead in northern Ontario. When not helping clients, he enjoys hiking in national parks with his wife.
