Overview

Iulia Graf, Ph.D., focuses her practice on utility and design patent prosecution in the biomedical, electrical engineering, software, and manufacturing sectors.

Iulia has broad technical fluency in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering, machine learning, neural networks, blockchain, medical devices, software development, computer technologies, thermal systems, augmented and virtual reality, and telecommunications. She leverages her extensive research experience when working with clients to identify patentable products, services, and technologies. She then pursues efficient national and foreign prosecution strategies that emphasize communication with patent examiners to accelerate her applications toward allowance.

Prior to joining Fish & Richardson, Iulia worked as a research scientist in the biomedical engineering department at the University of Texas at Austin, where she performed preclinical research to improve the diagnosis and treatment monitoring of cardiovascular diseases and cancer. She also has several years of experience with clinical vascular research at the School for Cardiovascular Diseases, Maastricht University, the Netherlands, and several years of experience with cardiac research at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, Karlsruhe University, Germany.

She has served as a reviewer for several research foundations, including the National Institute of Health, Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research, and German Research Foundation.

Iulia is fluent in English, Spanish, Romanian, German, and Dutch, and has additional conversational proficiency in Italian, French, Hungarian, Modern Greek, and Latin.
