About Aleksandra

Aleksandra Fortier, Ph.D., focuses her practice on preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications. Prior to pursuing a career in intellectual property law, Dr. Fortier held various technical positions as a research scientist and summer faculty fellow with Wright Patterson Air Force Research Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio, (2016-2018), a professor of the department of mechanical and energy engineering at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas (2010-2017), a summer faculty fellow at University of Maryland CALCE Center (2011), and an application and manufacturing engineer for several electronic companies (2003-2009).

Dr. Fortier obtained B.S. (2005), M.S. (2006), and Ph.D. (2009) degrees in mechanical engineering and a second M.S. degree (2009) in engineering management from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Fortier technical background spans the area of reliability and lifecycle performance of electronics, with focus on device health management, and processing and design of novel engineering structures for smart sensing systems. Her research work has been published in over 40 peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and technical presentations and she holds five U.S. patents and patent applications.
