About Aleksandra

Dr. Aleksandra Fortier’s practice focuses on preparation and prosecution of domestic and international patent applications. Prior to pursuing a career in intellectual property law, Dr. Fortier has held various technical positions as a Research Scientist and Summer Faculty Fellow with Wright Patterson Air Force Research Laboratory Dayton, Ohio, (2016-2018), a Professor of Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering at University of North Texas Denton, Texas (2010-2017), a Summer Faculty Fellow at University of Maryland CALCE Center (2011), and an Application and Manufacturing Engineer for several electronic companies (2003-2009). Dr. Fortier obtained B.S. (2005), M.S. (2006), and Ph.D. (2009) degrees in mechanical engineering and second M.S. (2009) in engineering management from Southern Methodist University Dallas, Texas. Dr. Fortier technical background spans the area of reliability and life-cycle performance of electronics, with focus on device health management, and processing and design of novel engineering structures for smart sensing systems. Her research work has been published in over 40 peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, and technical presentations and she holds 5 US patents and patent applications.
