John Pegram Quoted in Law360 Article, "UK Has Uncertain Post-Brexit Role In Unified Patent Court"

John Pegram (Senior Principal) was quoted in Law360 article, "UK Has Uncertain Post-Brexit Role In Unified Patent Court" on March 29, 2017.

John Pegram of Fish & Richardson PC’s New York office said there have been no indications that Parliament won't ratify the agreement.

“The thing we’re waiting for as much as anything is for the U.K. to do its formalities, and it's a matter of when they get around to doing it,” he said.

"As long as people on both sides want them to, they can stay in," Pegram said.

Pegram said he did not expect the CJEU’s role to be a significant political obstacle, since the UPC will rarely deal with issues of EU law over which the CJEU has jurisdiction.

“There was great effort made when the UPC agreement was drafted to minimize what might be subject to EU law,” he said.
