Michael P. Shepherd’s practice emphasizes client counseling and patent prosecution in the areas of software and other computer-related technologies.

Michael has significant experience counseling clients on patent portfolio building, including on how to initiate a patent program and on obtaining patent protection for important inventions. Michael has years of experience obtaining patents on a variety of technically complex technologies, including computer architecture and chip design; graphics processing units; robotics; user interfaces; artificial intelligence, including neural networks and other machine learning technologies; radar design; programming language design; static analysis of source code; and cloud computing platforms and applications.

Michael’s professional technical experience includes several years working as an embedded software engineer on radar and sonar systems at Lockheed Martin Corp. and Northrop Grumman Corp.

Michael’s hobbies include piano, bonsai, Python programming, photography, and coffee roasting.
