Kirk was a judicial extern for the Honorable Steven J. McAuliffe of the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire (1996-1997), and a member of the technical staff of Rockwell International’s space systems division (1989-1994), where he was a guidance, navigation, and control engineer on various high-profile programs, including GPS, space shuttle, and strategic defense systems.
