Background

Gregory Walters is Of Counsel in the Washington, D.C., office of Fish & Richardson. His practice emphasizes strategic patent counseling and portfolio development, domestic and international patent prosecution, managing client patent and trademark portfolios, and post-grant proceedings before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).  Mr. Walters has represented both patent owners and petitioners in inter partes review proceedings before the PTAB, often in coordination with co-pending district court and ITC litigation.

Mr. Walters advises clients concerning the protection, enforcement and licensing of their intellectual property, as well as the avoidance of infringement risks.  He has handled due diligence investigations supporting merger and acquisition transactions and preparation of opinions involving infringement, validity, patent landscape, and freedom-to-operate issues. Mr. Walters helps clients develop and execute intellectual property strategies that integrate with their business processes and further drive their strategic business goals.

His technical focus includes electrical, computer-related, physics, mechanical and chemical arts. Within these fields, Mr. Walters has extensive knowledge and experience in the following technologies: electronics and electrical systems, network and computer security systems, medical devices, manufacturing and process control systems, computer software, mobile and other communications equipment and processes, interactive display technologies, semiconductor devices and fabrication processes, signal and image processing techniques, complex optical and mechanical devices, cryptography, telecommunications, and thermodynamic processes and systems.

Mr. Walters has prior technical and engineering experience working for a large automobile manufacturing company, and experience working for a global technology consulting firm, where he worked on the design and implementation of network and communication systems, large database management systems, logistics systems, and computer programming in various database and object oriented languages.
